Actually the past weekend was planned for recreation. Actually, the Baltic Sea is too far away for a 2 day trip. And actually, I am codriver to someone called Göttig, but this guy’s name is Nicolai…
Nothing is older than yesterday’s plan and so I got contacted by Stefan Göttig – Nicolai’s father – one week earlier as Natalie – his actual codriver – had to cancel Rosenhof Rallye due to job reasons. Long story short: O Thursday I’ve been in the plane to Hamburg from where I headed to the final destination: The Baltic Sea.
The goal was clear from the beginning: Overall podium. The collaboration was great from the first stage on, but to be honest we overslept the start. On the first stage we were able to score a second time overall, but had to take 5 seconds from Martin Schütte and his codriver Kerstin David. After another 16 seconds hit on SS 2, we had to accept the expected: There wouldn’t be any chance against Martin Schütte.
In the consecutive stages, the battle for P2 startet with Andreas Dahms in his Porsche 911. On stage 3 he passed us and was able to defend it until the penultimate stage. However, in the end we were able to take back the lead in this battle with a brilliant final attack on SS 6 and finished the event with P2 overall on the one hand and with a stage time just slightly behind Martin Schütte on the other hand which was kind of a blessing for our minds.
In the end, I would like to thank Stefan and Natalie for all the trust they set into me when chosing me as Natalie’s deputy for this event. It was a lot of fun and I think I completed the job to full satisfaction. 😉
